Exciting special trading session scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2024!

The National Stock Exchange is organising two special trading sessions on Saturday 20. The first session will start at 9:15 a.m. and end at 10:00 a.m.

Even though Saturday is the stock market’s weekly holiday, trading will nevertheless occur on January 20, 2024. Two unique live trading sessions will be held by National Stock Exchange to transition to a disaster recovery (DR) site. Two time windows will be available for the session: the first from 9:15 am to 10:00 am and the second from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

What is the reason behind organising a special trading session on Saturday?

The stock exchange will test the Disaster recovery (DR) Site during the trading session. In the event of a server crash, cyberattack, or other unfavorable circumstances, trading will be possible on the Disaster Recovery (DR) Site. Its goal is to keep investors and the market stable while allowing smooth trading in challenging circumstances.

The NSE has released a circular in this regard. That circular contains information on the live trading session. It stated that on January 20, a unique live trading session involving an intraday move from the primary site to the Disaster Recovery site will take place in the equity and equity derivatives segments.

The pre-open session is scheduled on this day from 9:00 a.m. to 9:08 a.m., per the circular. The general market will reopen at 9:15 a.m. and close at 10:00 a.m. following this. Trading will occur on the main site at this time.

The second session will be held on the Disaster Recovery (DR) site. The pre-open session for this second special live session will begin at 11:15 a.m. and terminate at 11:30 a.m. Opening at 11:30 a.m. and closing at 12:30 p.m. is the general market schedule. On the other hand, the closing session is scheduled to last from 12:40 to 12:50.
